Frequently Asked Questions

Course Assessment

  • What is the International Baccalaureate Program?

  • The International Baccalaureate (IB) program is a curriculum offered by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) to students worldwide. This learning system was initially designed for the children of diplomats and students who frequently change educational environments, aiming to cultivate a global mindset, qualities, and abilities. These students can smoothly transition into various national education systems. The IB program is divided into four stages based on age and learning development:
  • Primary Year Programme (PYP)
  • Middle Year Programme (MYP)
  • Diploma Programme (DP)
  • Career Programme (CP)

Education pathways

  • What are the pathways to higher education for students in the IB and EB programs?

▶Domestic: Since both the IB and Overseas Admission programs implement the International Baccalaureate Curriculum, their assessment mechanisms differ from those of regular students, therefore they are not eligible for the Star Program recommendation. Other domestic university admission pathways, such as special talent selection, individual application, and subject-specific tests (advanced placement tests), are open for application. However, due to different curriculum plans, students must prepare for these tests themselves. ▶International: Our school provides information and guidance on university admission pathways in various countries through various organizations, professionals, and career counselors. However, application procedures and required documents vary from country to country and school to school, and students must prepare them themselves.

  • Will studying for the International Baccalaureate program help me/my child apply to universities abroad in the future?

Our school's primary goal in offering the International Baccalaureate (IB) program is not to encourage students to apply to foreign universities. However, currently, students who successfully complete the IB program still have a significant advantage when applying to foreign universities. This includes the fact that the IB program is taught in English, providing students with solid training in English listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills; and the IB diploma is not easy to obtain, with many foreign universities not only accepting direct applications based on the IB diploma but also allowing some subjects to be transferred for university credits. However, university admission systems vary from country to country, and the actual situation must be assessed based on the admission requirements of each university. Our school will do its best to provide relevant information and guidance to students who intend to apply to foreign universities.

Transfer in/Transfer out

  • Can students transfer to a regular class after entering the IB or SUPP program? Can credits be transferred between the two programs?

▶ IB students can transfer to regular classes, but students in the International Baccalaureate program are not allowed to transfer due to their immigration status. ▶ IB credits are transferable between IB and regular classes; the school will provide a credit conversion chart for students' reference. However, due to differences in curriculum, students must make up any missing credits themselves.

  • Can students transfer schools after entering the IB or WA programs?

Yes, it is possible. However, if a student wants to transfer to another school, the credit recognition will be primarily determined by the receiving school. Students and parents must carefully evaluate the situation and confirm with the receiving school themselves.

  • If a student attends a regular class in their first year of high school, can they transfer to an IB or intensive program in their second year?

Students in the regular classes can apply to transfer to the IB program from Grade 10 onwards. The transfer application guidelines were posted on the school's homepage last semester. However, due to the significant differences between the IB curriculum structure, teaching methods, assessment mechanisms, and course content and the regular class curriculum, to ensure students understand the IB curriculum requirements and possess a certain level of core competencies, the transfer application process includes a review of written materials and examinations in some subjects. Detailed information is subject to the published guidelines.

Other issues

  • What is the language of instruction for the International Baccalaureate program? Are there any language proficiency requirements or restrictions?

Except for Chinese Language and Literature and Language Acquisition (Chinese), which are taught in Chinese, all other IB courses are taught in English, and require a high level of English listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Therefore, it is strongly recommended that applicants have an English proficiency of at least B1 level. Furthermore, students in the comprehensive program also need to take courses taught in Chinese; therefore, it is strongly recommended that their Chinese proficiency be at least A2 level. (Language Proficiency Level Reference)

  • What are the tuition and fees per semester? Are there any other additional fees?

▶ Tuition and fees will be charged according to the fee standards stipulated in the Regulations Governing Experimental Education in Senior High Schools. ▶ Other fees, such as those for camps, teaching materials and equipment, foreign language textbooks, and registration for the International Baccalaureate Examination, will be charged after explaining to parents based on actual needs.

  • Are there any scholarships or subsidies for students enrolled in the IB program or the NCEE program?

▶ The IB program offers scholarships for students from low-income or lower-middle-income families. Students must submit relevant documentation to the school to apply. The school will assess the student's financial situation and needs for the year and provide partial or full financial aid. ▶ The open-ended program does not offer scholarships.

  • What is the difference between the IB class and the international class? Which one should I/my child sign up for?

Both the IB class and the International class will take the International Baccalaureate (IBDP) courses. The biggest difference lies in the different enrollment targets.

the enrollment target of the international class is the children of overseas professionals.

Those who do not meet this qualification are not allowed to apply.

Example 1: Student A holds a passport from the United States (or other countries), but both parents are Taiwanese and do not have the status of a foreigner, they are not allowed to apply for the general class.

Example 2: Student B holds a U.S. (or other country) passport, one of his parents is a foreigner, but the foreign parent is not employed in Taiwan, or the job content does not meet the requirements of Article 4 of the "Foreign Professional Employment and Employment Law" (For example, an outside teacher in a cram school), you are not allowed to apply for the international class.

Starting from the second week, Teacher Sibyl will teach the self-directed learning courses.
